A 39-year-old man from Delhi, identified as Deepak Yadav, was brutally beaten to death by a group of men aboard a moving train while traveling home to Baghpat to visit his wife and children for the weekend. The shocking incident occurred in the general compartment of the Delhi-Saharanpur passenger train on Friday night and spanned nearly 10 kilometers, according to officials.

Yadav, who worked as a mason in Delhi and hailed from Khekra in Baghpat district, reportedly got into a verbal altercation with some fellow passengers over a seat dispute, said SP (Government Railway Police) Ashutosh Shukla. The argument escalated quickly, and a group of around 20 men allegedly attacked him, inflicting severe head injuries.

When the train reached Khekra station, Yadav was rushed to a nearby community health centre, where he was declared dead.

SHO (GRP) Udham Singh Talan stated that an FIR has been filed under BNS Section 103 (murder) against five individuals, all of whom were arrested on Saturday. Authorities are working to identify the remaining attackers, and forensic teams are assisting with the investigation.

A disturbing video of the incident surfaced on social media, showing Yadav being repeatedly punched and kicked by several men inside the overcrowded train coach, while some passengers attempted to intervene. The clip also shows the suspects jumping off the train one by one as it slowed down approaching Khekra station.

A senior police official involved in the probe confirmed that the accused are residents of Baghpat and surrounding areas. Deepak Yadav is survived by his wife Savitri and their two children.

The incident has sparked outrage over passenger safety on Indian Railways, especially in overcrowded general coaches, and raised serious questions about security measures on board.
