Delhi: The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder of a liquor contractor in Haryana’s Jind district on Friday. In a social media post, Rohit Godara, a key aide of Bishnoi, asserted that the killing was a calculated act to settle an ongoing gang rivalry.

The victim, identified as Veerender alias Bindar, hailed from Kharkara Mazra village and was attacked while sitting at his liquor shop around 7pm. Eyewitnesses said armed assailants arrived in an SUV and opened indiscriminate fire, forcing Bindar to flee toward a nearby residence. However, the attackers chased and shot him inside the house.

As the assailants tried to escape, their vehicle became stuck on a cemented platform. Alert villagers gave chase, prompting the attackers to abandon their SUV and flee on foot. They commandeered two motorcycles at gunpoint from passersby and escaped the scene.

Police reached the spot shortly after and launched a massive manhunt. Villagers reported that the attackers had been waiting in ambush and fired 30–35 rounds. Bindar was declared dead on arrival at Jind civil hospital.

According to DSP Jitender Rana, five police teams have been deployed to track down the killers. Preliminary investigation suggests a gang rivalry as the motive. Bindar’s brother is currently lodged in jail in connection with a murder case, and both are believed to have had longstanding enmity with the Bishnoi-Brar syndicate.

In the social media post, Godara alleged that Bindar was financing rivals of the Bishnoi gang. “Our younger brother Rohit Rana killed him with his own hands,” the post read. “Bindar supported our enemies and orchestrated attacks on our men Vineet and Rohit. This was payback.”

The post ended with a chilling threat: “To those against us, mend your ways. Otherwise, keep your coffin ready at your doorstep.”

With Lawrence Bishnoi currently in jail, Godara and Goldy Brar are said to be managing the group’s operations and communications, often using social media platforms to claim responsibility for gang-related acts.

Police said the case is being investigated from all possible angles, and efforts are underway to track down Rohit Rana and others involved.
