Bollywood’s powerhouse production house, Excel Entertainment, founded by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, has joined hands with veteran actor Anupam Kher’s production studio for the much-anticipated drama Tanvi The Great. Scheduled to hit theatres on July 18, 2025, the film will now be distributed globally under Excel’s banner, significantly boosting its international reach.
Announcing the collaboration on Instagram, Anupam Kher shared a photo with Farhan and Ritesh, expressing gratitude for their support. “Behind every great story are those who dare to believe in it and those who step in to take it even further. Today, that belief turns stronger with #ExcelEntertainment joining our journey,” Kher wrote. “Their support in Tanvi’s journey will strengthen our dream to take her story far and wide globally. Thank you dearest @faroutakhtar and @ritesh_sid for your faith, support, and appreciation!”
The excitement around Tanvi The Great also grew recently when Kher was spotted walking the streets of New York with Hollywood legend Robert De Niro. Kher, who is in the U.S. for the premiere of the film, posted a picture with De Niro on Instagram, writing, “Never in my wildest dreams had I ever thought that one day I will be walking on the streets of New York with the GREATEST ACTOR in the world. The ICONIC #RobertDeNiro! God is kind and so is Mr. De Niro!! Jai Mata Di!”
For those unaware, Kher and De Niro co-starred in the Oscar-winning film Silver Linings Playbook (2012), directed by David O. Russell.
Backed by Kher Studios and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), in association with Lower Middle-Class Corporation, Tanvi The Great boasts a star-studded ensemble including Shubhangi Dutt, Iain Glen, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nasser, among others. The film promises an inspiring story, deep emotions, and powerful performances, marking Anupam Kher’s return to the director’s chair after more than two decades.
