Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit has quickly become one of the most anticipated projects in Indian cinema. Originally announced in October 2021, the film created a wave of excitement among fans, but development was delayed as Vanga focused on completing Animal—his 2023 blockbuster with Ranbir Kapoor. Now, with Animal behind him, Vanga is fully committed to Spirit, and casting developments are finally picking up pace.
Following the confirmation of Triptii Dimri as the female lead, Spirit may now have another exciting addition. Acclaimed Marathi actor Upendra Limaye recently hinted at joining the cast. Limaye posted a photo with Sandeep Reddy Vanga from the director’s production house, Bhadrakali Pictures, in Hyderabad. His caption read: “Pleasure meeting Reddy Brothers at their new office, Bhadrakali Pictures in Hyderabad. Reddy Brothers are in high ‘SPIRITS’ (sic).” This cryptic message has fueled speculation, suggesting that the actor may be officially on board.
Upendra Limaye previously impressed audiences in Animal, where he played arms dealer Freddy in a brief yet memorable role. His intense pre-interval sequence became one of the highlights of the film. Given the overwhelming fan response, Vanga has already confirmed Limaye’s return in the upcoming sequel, Animal Park. However, Spirit will take priority and begin production first.
Starring Prabhas in the lead, Spirit promises a high-octane narrative with the actor portraying a fierce and intense cop. The film marks Prabhas’ first collaboration with both Triptii Dimri and Sandeep Reddy Vanga. It is also Vanga’s third collaboration with producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series after Kabir Singh and Animal.
With each new update, Spirit continues to raise expectations. If Upendra Limaye’s involvement is confirmed, it will be yet another crossover from the Animal universe, hinting at Vanga’s expanding cinematic world and deepening creative continuity between his projects.
